Replace broad feature labels with specific functions
Write the action you want: change a lighting setting, schedule compatible equipment or operate a particular water feature. Match it to the proposed controller and connected equipment. “Smart pool” does not identify which functions are included.
Keep the product and model references with the proposal. Ask for a demonstration of the functions you are choosing and the local controls available for ordinary use. Confirm what is supported when connectivity is unavailable rather than assuming every system behaves alike.
Include account access in the handover
Identify who will hold the owner account, how another household member can obtain supported access and how a service provider’s access can be removed. Use the manufacturer’s account process rather than sharing a password in an inquiry form or project email.
Pentair’s IntelliCenter support page illustrates why exact product documentation matters: it describes app migration, account settings and local versus remote connection options. That is a manufacturer example, not a claim that every controller works this way or that CPR supplies that particular system. Review the selected provider’s privacy terms and support arrangements before enabling connected services.
Check the cover’s intended purpose and safety documentation
Identify the proposed cover and its stated purpose. An automatic operating mechanism alone does not establish that a product is a safety cover. Obtain its documentation and have the responsible team confirm the installation and applicable local requirements.
CPSC discusses power safety covers that meet ASTM F1346 and emphasizes that barriers cannot replace adult supervision. Include the cover’s controls, operating instructions and upkeep in the handover; do not rely on a generic “automatic cover” description as the complete protection plan.
Keep comfort functions separate from water care
Discuss lighting, seating and jets in terms of the experience you want and the work they require. Identify which controls belong to which feature and who will explain their use. A proposed jet arrangement is not a medical treatment claim.
For a hot tub or spa, plan for the actual care routine as well as its controls. CDC guidance calls for checking disinfectant and pH and observing safe-use rules. A remote control or automated feature is not evidence that water is ready for use; follow the selected system’s instructions and the applicable care guidance.
Ask for a practical operating record
Before accepting a feature package, list the included models, compatible devices, manuals, account handover and instruction session. Identify the source of product support and the terms for the selected equipment and work. Keep any optional recurring service or charge explicit.
CPR’s project discussion can establish which features belong in your new pool or remodel. The agreed scope determines the work; choosing automation does not add an ongoing maintenance service or an unlimited support promise.
